I am building an exposed beam ceiling with structural 8″x12″ ridges 12′ long and hips 8″x10″ 16’long. We will patina the beams to go with non-structural, old hand hewn beams. What material should I use for the structural beams, Green redwood or Kiln Dried Fur? The engineer has approved either. My concerns are the twisting and splitting of the redwood and getting a good patina that looks good with with the old hand hewn non-structural beams. Any ideas would be appreciated either to the species or patina. Thanks, Bobby
The Makita LS1219L makes precise repetitive cuts and can handle wide and heavy timbers.
