It is finally spring here, and I got out this weekend to start cleaning up the yard and landscaping around the house. One thing that I noticed was that two of my down spouts had gotten “shorter” to the point that they no longer extend down in to the PVC fitting, they are now short by about 1/2″. The last time I noticed they were down into the fitting by about an inch.
I don’t think that the house rose by an inch and a half, but I can’t tell where the ground around the house sunk by an inch and a half either. The house is just about ten years old, as is the landscaping, so I am surprised that it is settling more now.
I know that the only way to fix it and make it look good is to replace these two down spouts, but any one have any ideas on why this is happening now? It is in Indiana, we have not had a rough winter, little snow and rain, temperatures very mild.

I would bet you have expansion contraction going on.... with the weird weather we been having here in Indiana this year, I wouldn't doubt it.... your drains have prolly just moved/climbed up the wall.. you can prolly just bang em back down into socket without too much trouble.... well... dont go crazy banging them down, but you get my drift...
