I was reading the “Sizing Gutter Systems” article in the Roofing section. There is a sample calculation in there and the recommendations at the very end confused me… The gutters were capable of 836 sq ft and the roof shed was 800 sq ft. The recommendation was “either pitch the gutter, use a larger gutter or add another downspout”. The first two solutions would improve the gutter shed, but a downspout would still have to be added since they are capable of only 6oo sq ft. The recommendation should have been “either pich the gutter or us a larger gutter AND also add another downspout”. Does this make sense to you guys or am I missing something?

Which roofing section? - just curious.
Using a larger gutter with the same size downspout increases capacity somewhat by providing storage space. Not the best solution, but an alternative if for some reason the downspout size can't be increased. I just dealt with such a situation where the downspout went vertically thru a brick wall.
OOPS, I did it again.............................
