I need assistance on putting a handrail on a wall that is 5 1/2 inches off set Any help would be appreciated.

Bastard situation......
In a perfect world you would run a rail continuous from door end, jog at the foundation wall and return at the bottom. To do this you need to mitre join the rail with screws and plugs or dowels. 90 degree joints would be easier than a more smooth flowing run.
In most old awkward basement accesses, they'd install 2 separate rails which while a help is not to code.
what does the other side of the stair look like?
