They say these problems come in threes.
Happened yesterday actually…
First, Mark’s circ saw had a weak prong on the plug that finally broke off.
Then I picked mine up to make a cut and zip. Thought was a breaker. Turned out later on to be that the heavy snow had got some moisture in to stop things up. OK now that she’s dry
Finally, PHil dropped his sawe from onwe floor to the next and the handle broke off.
I dug out the old Milwaukee and put in a new blade and we were up and running again.

Break out the hand saws and you won't have those problems.
Well, you could break the handle, I guess.
or hit a nail

ive had that happen too. Its half way between hilarious and aggrivating. Somtimes it will migrate across tools, like when two circ saws break in a row(my last expirience like that), you might go to the jigsaw and break your last blade, go to the other backup jigsaw and the foot is loose and you lost the allenwrench to tighten it with..

I have found that I am breaking out my hand saws more and more these days. It's actually easier with a good sharp one, at least for the smaller cuts.
I still carry my 5-1/2 pt. rip, and my 8 and 12 pt. crosscuts.
It sometimes is easier to get out a handsaw rather than drag out the cords for my power saw.
But I wouldn't want to do that all day.

Was that saw a Hitachi?

I've never seen a Hitachi circ saw. All three just happened to be Porter Cables

Thanks Piffin. I trie a hitachi. The tool guy said they were better. The handle broke off.
I'll never buy a saw that has handle that can break off again.

You must be close to having to do your job without a saw then! my Milwaukee is the only brand I have never seen able to be broken at the handle.I am also very partial to drop foor saws instead of the cheaper swing foot depth adjustment. They are more solid and more accurate in two ways, not that one of them would influuence you - it is that when you - excuse me - when one uses a speed square, the shoe of the drop foot stays square/parrallel to the blade but a swing foot gets off pretty quickly
