Anyone know if there is such a thing as a concealed face-frame hinge for a liped cabinet door?
This is a fairly common type of cabinet, least around here. It’s a face frame cabinet, with liped doors that inset halfway into the face frame. probably built 20 years ago.
I thought the hinge would be an easy find, but it stumped raleigh hardwood today. I’m still looking on the web.

do you have one or a picture of the application?
I know most of the Blum products and I dont think they make such an animal. I'm not so sure its even possible.
what happens with a full inset hinge is the door pivots so that at 90 degrees the door is still fully inset in the frame. the lip would prevent that from happening.
If you're creative enough, what you might be able to do is add a 3/8"x2" strip of wood to the stile on the hinge side of the door and mortise that to accommodate full inset cup hinges, the kind that mount to the back of the face frame. you might have to cut some of that face frame to let the lip clear. that will leave the door 3/8" proud of the face frame, like it is now.
Have you tried looking at Rockler? They've got lots of cabinet hinges.

If I understand you right, there is a backplate offered from Grass that will allow a lipped door application.
"The lipped door application is possible using the 3904/3914 hinge and the 9.3mm baseplate. The boring distance for the hinge cup is moved to 14mm in order to clear the lip on the door. The use of the 135 degree reduction clip is also required to prevent the back edge of the door from striking the hinge arm."
You will have to install a block to the back of the face frame to extend the fastening area for the baseplate which goes back into the cab a couple inches.
It won't be cheap and some experimentation is necessary unless you understand the workings of the hinge. I would mock up a pc of ply that you can lip and bore to test your layout b/4 drilling your cab doors.
With the hinge and baseplate you are not talking cheap. The putzing with the block won't be cheap either (labor). It projects into the cab so customer might not like that in their cabinet.

Blum's 170 series hinge, used with their 9mm mounting plate, is shown in their catalog as working for a lipped door application.
Door panel thickness is 19mm, the 9mm plate is mounted atop a shim of 3mm thickness, and the door's rebate is 9.5mm x 9.5mm.
That computes to a 3/4" door with a 3/8" x 3/8" lip.
As discussed with your recommendation, the faceframe will need blocks on its backside wherever the hinge mounts occur. Blum shows the use of their #70.6103 angle restriction clip.
If you can download and read .pdf files (the Adobe reader is free), you can see it here: http://www.cabinetparts2.com/tech_data/blum/blumcatp14-15cliptop170.pdf

I've used the SOS hinges once before. I'm not sure if this is what you need, but give 'em a look. Rockler has them.
drbqwood , Go to the Knots forum and search concealed Euro hinge for 3/8" lip
Doors . There is a thread and the poster : " Ring " gives the exact solution using Blum hinge # and by furring out the jamb for the hinge mounting bracket .
good luck dusty
not familiar with "knots". is that one of the one's here on breaktime?
Go to the top of your page, right under the Taunton Press heading, it has 6 choices, Knots/Breaktime/Cooks Talk/Over the fence/House chat/Gatherings, click on knots, your already signed up to go in there, as well as all the others.
When you get into knots find the heading that best fits your inquiry and post away.
There format is a bit different but you'll figure it out.

just got in a saw the reply's... 'priciate it yaw.
I wound up using a blum hinge / plate that was suited for a frameless cabinet / lip door combo. Took some angled aluminum and made bracket extensions of the back of the face frame.
Turning out alright. Had to shave a little of the back side of the hinge side edge of the doors, but other than that it's working out fine. I'll post pics next week when i go back to finish.
One of us needs to make a hinge just for this and be a billionair like the guy's who invented shower curtin rings and pencil erasers.
