Hardie Plank – which filler??
@@@
We have some dings and divots in unpainted HardiePlank that need filling.
What is the recommended filler for fiber cement?

I've always just hit 'em with Quad caulk. But I'm sure there's somebody in here who'll refute that and say if you do that your house will fall down on a busload of schoolchildren...
Kinda depends on if you're using smooth or wood-grain planks due to how much you have to tool it out to blend things in.

He does elegant framing. I have pix of his soffit detail for the kids. The second floor by way of the balconys front/back is done in 4x LVL beams for joists. It's the smooth face and will be painted or James Hardie will disown us.
Which means a bit of blend and spread smoothing. The ToolBear

Probably can use anything that says it's OK on an exterior application (It will be covered by paint, yes?). Dings aren't easy to fill with caulk IMO. Kind of depends of where it is and what it needs to look like. I've been into Bondo lately, but any wood filler would probably be OK.
