All,
HO here having a house sided in Hardie, Arctic White. Noticed that the touch-up paint doesn’t match very well, and it looks sorta nasty. Should I expect an exact match? Seems for the price of this stuff there shold be a factory-issued exact color match that comes with the materials. The siding and trim were factory painted.
Thanks for your input.

Although it is suppose to match, from my experiance, it's hit-or-miss. I stopped ordering the prepainted stuff for that reason; I usually have to coat the whole siding because the 'touch-ups' make it look like a patchwork hobo suit.

I was afraid of that...so what would you do as a homeowner when it looks like patchwork?
Thanks for the reply.
Choose a house color I would want to look at for however long I was gonna live there, and start painting.
Sorry. It was a good idea, but a little lacking in execution. I'll still use the FC siding over anything else but cedar, however. Just be sure to factor in the painting.

It will cost me another 10k to have it painted, no $%@ way am I adding to the 36k for the siding job :-( Isn't that the reason we choose and pay so much for this siding? The guarantee is for what, 15 years on the paint job?I'll take it up with the siding company and the builder, obviously, but I wanted to get feedback for realistic expectations first. It never even occurred to me that I would have to be concerned about paint matching. I can't believe that as a homeowner you would just suck it up and accept it then paint it yourself...would you?? I looked at a few jobs the siding company did before signing off on them and there was no sign of patchy paint. All factory painted. None was white like mine, maybe that's the difference...
Thanks again...
have yur own touch up paint made and air brush it on....
be sure to fade the touch up...

We did one of the first color plus job in Central Texas. All kinds of Hardie reps stopping by. They did not like what they heard from me. The paint on the Hardi was very very thin-many places the primer was showing. After install the trim, you had to repaint the whole thing because their touch up went on thicker than the original and looked different. I really felt like I got sold a bunch of marketing fluff on that install.
Best bet is to paint it all. Should last for some time if done well.
