I’m redoing a couple of bedrooms in my 1912 house. Plan was to replace the carpet with hardwood, 3/4 solid wood. I was expecting there to be particle board underlayment beneath the carpet since that was the norm around here when the carpet was installed. I figured ripping up the PB and replacing it with plywood, but when the carpet came up there was decent looking OSB under it.
Question is can the hardwood be directly installed on the OSB without creating problems down the line. Rooms are small around 10 X 11. current floor is 3/4 x 1 x 4 tongue and groove with the 1/2 inch OSB on top. Rooms are over a basement that is heated and cooled.
thanks in advance.

I don't believe you should have a problem, make sure the joints are flat, and I like 30# felt between the underlayment and the flooring. You might add some more screws, and look for squeaks.
