Home Depot is considering selling or spinning off its wholesale-supply business to focus on its retail operations, bowing to pressure from activist investor Ralph Whitworth.

That's the exact opposite of the strategy former HD CEO Nardelli was pushing until he was shown the door. He planned to slow down on the retail side, and instead invest hundreds of millions of dollars in a push to grab a chunk of the wholesale markets because there were few large competitors.
I guess the new CEO has other plans. Man I'd hate to be working in the upper ranks of HD management right now. Must be a complete zoo.
