in a load bearing wall i have an opening roughly 7 feet , i have room for 9″ worth of header above this opening, is this sufficient…also rule of thumb for window rough openings? 1″larger than window enough?..thanks for the info yesterday

Nobody can answer that question for you with knowing what the header is supporting dude.
Regarding your RO question.... all the manufacturers are different. Look up your window unit in either the manufacturer's book or website and it will tell you what RO to frame to. If the window is onsite already, just measure it and add 3/4" all the way around unless you frame really crooked and then you'll need to add more. :)
