I am planning for DIY tile floors in three baths and would like to install electric heat mats under the tile.
The subfloor is 7/8″ Georgia Pacific sturdi-floor over 2 x 4 floor trusses 16″ OC.
1. Do I need to install a layer of backerboard on top of the plywood subfloor?
2. From your experience, have you been pleased with the performance of the uncoupling layer (Ditra-Mat)? Should this be used instead of additional backerboard, or should I install backerboard then heat mats then Ditra-Mat?
The flooring in the rooms adjacent to these baths will be 3/4″ hardwood.
Thanks to all,
