i installed heatway “twintran” hose in my house in 1989. heard about a deteriorating condition that plagued them at about that time. i registered with heatway, talked with them over the phone, and was assured that if there was a problem i should have experienced it by now. still no problems with the product. since its my own house i’m even more concerned about the potential for disaster in the concrete, under the nice ceramic, blah blah blah. feedback please? thank you.

Hey calvin,
If you aren't worried about putting radiator hose in concrete, why should the rest of us be?
You'll be just fine lad, won't you?
*Keeping in mind that I am not qualified in this area, it seems to me you have two choices. First choice is to wait until the problem exists and forces you to fix it. The second choice would be to fix it before it breaks on the chance that it will. Unless you are incapable of relaxing and not worrying about it constantly, I would suggest the first choice.Rich Beckman
*Calvin My parents bought a modest house in 1955 with radiant heat in the floors. Lately there has been a hint of some deterioration in the slab but the system is still working and is the best heating system I have seen. I personally have never seen a radiant system fail with the exception of one that was trashed by a bug man with drill. Others may have but My opinion is that fear of the catastophic keeps a lot of people from trying this heat and I"m not so sure that the more traditional heating industry is sorry about this situation.
*Turn off the make-up water valve and let the expansion tank do its thing. Check the pressure every few weeks and if it leaks, it will only be a few gallons instead of a basement fulln of water.
