I just installed a small (24″ tall)recessed mirrored medicine cabinet in our bathroom. Now that the work is all done my spouse feels that the cabinet is installed unusually low. Before I take it out and block a new opening, can anyone tell me a typical installation height guideline?
Thanks!

Of course!
If I remember right I used to put medicine cabinets at 5' to the center but if its in your master bath then maybe a little higher because its not for kids so you dont have to accomidate everybody.

<G> No, you have a very local AHJ already; "we" are superfluous.
I pulled out my Architectural Graphic Standards, it shows 40" to the bottom of mirrors. Which meets ADA for mirrors.
At the same time, the top of the medicine cabinet generally "wants" centering on the 'main' mirror, or, it's top has to be the same height--both of which can be hard to achieve. Which can want for a bit of finesse in the blocking. But, luckily, you have the "inspector" right there.
but it is still too low for a 6'4" or taller person...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->

Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Thanks all for the feedback - I'll work it out with my 'inspector'!
Your wife knows far more about design, construction and "how things need to look" than you do. An example of this is that you did it wrong the first time on this simple mirror job.

I want a headboard only queen bed, my wife wants a king, pencil post bed. Can you guess what we just ordered?

My experience is that the right height is the one that keeps the wife happy. LOL.
I'm 6'4" my wife is 5'2".................we have his and hers bathrooms now after years of that same question
