Help! Cleaned the filter and dropped the
This morning I took apart the MOEN faucet at the hose connection, as suggested on here. Found LOTS of dirt accummulated in that little screen, so got busy and cleaned it, soaked it in vinegar. However, as I was busy doing this, I didn’t notice that if I let the hose slip back into the sleeve part of the faucet, that the little collar on the end of the hose would become firmly entrenched down by the sink deck, and resist all effforts on our part to push it up. My daughter even tried putting a little fakce nail glue on the hose, and we dropped it down to try to grab it.
I wondered about wrapping used chewing gun around the hose and grabbing the collar that way. Sadly, we have no gum in the house, and we live in the country, so we’d have to drive into town for that. Actually, I’m not sad that we live in the country — just that we don’t have any gum….
So, do I have to remove the whole faucet from the deck and shake it down?? Is there any way to retrieve it from above. We’ve tried pushing from underneath — no luck.
HELP!

Can't really visualize what you are talking about here, but can you suck it out with a shop vac?
The hose has a collar that attaches it to the hand part of the faucet. The collar has slipped down into the part of the faucet that is attached to the sink. Theoretically, I should be able to push it up from underneath, the hose runs up and down through there.
No gum...try peanut butter
Fine stiff wire maybe? Bend a hook and pull out. Or how about a coat hanger bent in a vee with last 1/4" of ends bent outward, tip to tip slightly wider than collar. Squeeze and insert into collar, release and the wire tips hook on threads inside collar. Sorta ike a reverse miter clamp.

Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
LOL, pay no attention to these guys.
The hose goes under the sink and hangs there. Go into the cabinet beneath the sink and push the hose up.

Pull the hose UP a few inches, WRAP a twist or two of some tape ( scotch, ele, teflon, masking etc. ) around the hose, PULL the hose down and force fit the ferrule SLIGHTLY on the hose, pull UP on the hose, ferrul will follow, I think you can figure out how to get the tape off,,(G)Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Ah, Sphere, you have grasped my problem, and offered what sounds to be a good solution. I'm Canadian, eh, so will have to use Red Green Duct tape. We're off to riding lessons now, so this will have to wait until we get home. Will keep you posted.
Thanks to everyone.

It worked! Took only two tries. I actually used clear packing tape -- I could find it fastest -- wrapped it around the hose, inside out, a few times. Had my daughter pull the hose back and tug on it a little bit.
Then she slowly fed it back up while I guided it with a shish-kebob skewer in the centre. The first time we were too fast and knocked the ferrule off, the second time we were a little more cautious, and voila! there it was.
And the water is just pouring out of the faucet now. After cleaning that little screen, I'm getting about twice the volume. Can actually fill a glass of water without falling asleep.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Next time stick a piece of rag between the hose and the inside of the spout. It will keep it from slipping rapidly down the spout. Dont ask me how I know this. That filter clogs up more than the areator. Wanna hear about the time my wife took off the areator and crossthreaded it....dental picks work on fine plastic threads. I also use a bit of waterproof grease on the threads to thwart hard water .
