Installing a GFCI, late in the day & tired…meant to feed the downstream devices & instead wired line & load to the line terminals…
realized what I’d done when I went to test the downstream outlets…..turned the breaker back off, BUT didn’t trip the GFCI, rewired line & load correctly, turned the breaker back on and heard the GFCI trip…..now the GFCI won’t re-set
I read the instructions & noticed something I’d never seen before “the GFCI is factory shipped tripped & will not reset until powered up” (or words to that effect)
Did I kill the GFCI by powering it up untripped?…I waited & tried re-setting it later (10 min.s or so; still no luck…
any suggestions…thanks all

4lorn1 I ain't, but first verify that the unit still works.
Power off: Connect to the line side only (no downstream connections). Make sure you are positive that the black is hot and the white is neutral with the wires you are connecting.
Power on: Then see if the GFCI will RESET. If it does, then
Power off: connect the downstream stuff and
Power on: RESET if necessary and see if the downstream stuff works
Let us know how it goes.
And the redo are you sure that you did not get line and load reversed.
New units are designed to protect against that.
Try this. Remove the load and verify the line side. Then try just that.
If that works then add the load side back.
Might be another problem in the load side that is keeping it triped.
