It’s been a while since I have picked up a hammer, so be easy on me.
I need some help trying to identify a material that is used to enclose showers and tubs in commercial installations. I have seen it in a number of hotels that I have stayed in. The material is some kind of thermoplastic about 1/4 ” thick. It generally is installed by placing narrow panels of material on the end walls of the tub. Then two panels of material are layed into the long wall of the tub with the joint covered by an overlay of the same material about 10 inches wide.
It has a marbled finish and comes in a range of colors from stark white to smokey tan. It resembles a solid surface material, but because I have seen it for about 20 years, I am certain that it is not Corian or Solitex. Someone at work today tossed out the name Marlite but that doesn’t sound like the stuff I am looking for. In fact I’m pretty sure Marlite has a Masonite backer.
Does anyone know what it is, who makes it, and where to find it?

Its probably cultured marble(which doesn't necessarily have to look like marble). You should be able to find a local supplier or check my reply to the shower base question. They can make these panels to any size(they don't even have to be square) They are available in scores of colors

*Hi Dave,I think your looking for FRP panels made of Structoglas. They should be available at any good supply yard that carries commercial building materials. If this is a commercial job you should check the specs as the fire rated panels are about 2 1/2 times the price of the non fire rated. The regular panels go for about $25 bucks each. They cut and install really easy. Good luck.Richard Max
