I have two Pella 2547 casements that don’t meet egress code – the opening is too narrow when the window is cranked open because the window “kicks in” when opened. Does anyone know of a replacement crank mechanism that allows for full-width opening on Pella casements?
Thanks in advance.

I know that some of the window manufacturers I deal with have an optional "quick release" hing for egress purposes. They include it at no additional charge. Contact your Pella sales rep.

*Dave: In the pella products guide 2547 has a footnote that says Egress hardware conversion kit available. Left or right hand hinging. Contact you local pella showroom or pella direct. It should be a simple thing. In our area the distributor has several service techs. for service work in the field. May be an option for you. Hope this helps. Ron
*Dave,I wanted to second Ron's info. Pella has egress hardware for this window. If you bought them at a big box retailer instead of at the official local distributor, the local service people get a cut anyway and will support the windows. Around here (Washington DC) the service is absolutely the best I've seen for any window. Anyway, I'd reccomend having the service folks do the work if possible. They know what they're doing and are pretty fast--then they'll stand behind it if they screw it up. They might even do it for free--ask!Doug
