the stairs of this deck come down to a sloped existing concrete pad. the stairs are 10 feet wide. at one end the rise is 24 1/2″. at the other end the rise is 23 1/2 inches. i was going to make the rise of each tread match at each end 8 3/16 to 7 13/16. now i am thinking split the diff so all three are 8″. any ideas? thanks for your help. paul.

I'd level all the treads off the deck and have the riser on the pad beveled on the bottom. I'd also figure the total rise on center of the 10' span.
Same here..

Paulg,
I always follow the steeper side/24-1/2" cut all my stringers the same 8-3/16". At the other end I'll cut the bottom of the stringer off 1", (7-3/16") because you said that side was 23-1/2".
Nail the two ends up and put a straight edge across the top of the two stringers and lay out your stringer centers on the concrete and straight edge and measure the distance up from the concrete to the bottom of the straight edge and transfer all those measurement from the top and down and cut the bottom off your stringers.
This way the top never changes and will be nice and level, any variation in the concrete you have will work out exact from measuring each one. Unless you have a perfectly straight concrete pad.
Alot of times the concrete is sloped from front to back and you have to rip the bottom of the stringer to follow the slope so everything level
