   BUMP

   No....there are many types of "shingles" that are created to look like slate, "light weight conc" shingles, rubber shingles, etc.....

   Not sure of any manufacturers names, but.........

   someone w/ more roofing exp will be along soon.

   owens corning makes a asphalt type shingle that resembles slate that I am trying to convince myself to put on my new house- It is the "Berkshire" I believe-

   As fas as asphalt products, both OC and GAF make products similar to the Certainteed Grand Manor. From what I've seen, I'd stick with the GM.

   I like the Tamko Lamarite shown above, better than it's competing products, also.
