Need some ideas for improving curb appeal on the house in the attached photo. The center section of the house looks a little off, and seems to need something. There is a 70’s type stone there around the front door. The second floor over hangs about 18-24 inches. Any ideas?

Lets try the photo again....
I don't want to comment, as everyone has their own idea of landscaping.
Before we sold our house in 2001 I contacted a very large Northern Virginia garden center who advertised a free consultation. I called them, the man came to the house, he and I talked about what I wanted, he drew a sketch of plants when they were young, not mature, giving them a large space to grow. I agreed with his sketches. Hired him. Three weeks later and two days of work I was completely happy. One of our neighbors (she was a member of the local garden club) across the street said our place never looked better. That spring we sold our house - curb appeal did it.
I hope this helps.
I think in your case it really depends on the desired result. If you were planning to stay I would say that you should build stone entrance, It would basically entail two big stone columns 5 or 6 feet in front of your front door and then a gentle sloped bell roof going up towards the window above, cover it with copper and It will really set off the front, that and a stone walkway with some gardens along it. If your looking to do something cheaper just to sell, put some trees either side of the door way and keep them groomed. As well as maybee some flower planters under your windows
