Hi-Efficiency furnace exhaust cap?
I’m part of an inner city housing fix-up project (Christmas In October) and the house I’m assigned to has a newer high-efficiency furnace with the PVC exhaust “flue”. However, the PVC exits through the band joist and has no cap on it. Just an open-ended pipe. This doesn’t seem right to my uneducated eye. Seems like an open invitation for critters to set up housekeeping in the flue, or heat exchanger. Should this have a screen or something on it?

nope, a screen can ice up, mebbe an elbow pointing down is all I'd do.

Check the instructions, if you don't have then get the brand and model number. Most likely you can down load the manual.
