Hi all! My name is Jason and I’m a young apprentice framer. I’d just like to introduce myself and I invite all of similar occupation to e-mail me any tips or hints you think I could benefit from. Oh and if you’re wondering where the silly nickname is from, well that’s what my boss calls me since I’m the crew member who nails off all the hurricane straps and brick ties 😉 Thanks in advance and I look forward to conversing with all of you via this forum!

Welcome Jason
I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun here.
Glad ta have ya around Jason. Hang around here and read the stuff, and you'll pick up a lot.
Don't know that you'll get anyone to email you a lot of stuff, though. That kinda defeats the purpose of the forum, where everyone gets to read the posts.
What has four legs and an arm? A happy pit bull.
Hey JAson
Welcome ! One word of warning...theres a lot of wizenheimers lurking ready to pounce on your every word so dont set yer self up......lol......just kidding.

So Strap your self in for some fun learning.
welcome aboard.
In addition to the forum, be sure to check out the mag which makes this site possible; there is a lot to learn there.
Well...
Here's to welcoming another new guy.
Sadly, though, since Taunton intiated the policy of only allowing a finite number of users on this forum at one time, since Jason is now on board we have to vote someone else off so as to not exceed Taunton's user limit.
I cast my vote for...
ME!
See ya...
HUH?
tell me more about this policy. What happened while I was gone?Excellence is its own reward!
Yeah, piffin, I was suprised too.
Apparently there are to many users so Taunton decided to

Hi Jason,
Welcome to the board. You've heard the story about the blind men and the elephant??? You're going to hear from all of them here......loudly at times. Put on some #30 sunscreen and buckle up. Again............. welcome.
To Jason, and everyone else out there.
I'm also new on this forum, my name is Joe Carola. I'm a framing contractor in New Jersey.
Jason, it's good to see a young framer trying to learn from these discussions, learn all that you can, ask as many questions as you can, your on the right track.
Also"Framer" is not my nickname, when I registered I did it wrong. I'll try to change and just keep my name.
Well this forum looks interesting, lets see what Framing topics come up.
Hey Joe welcome aboard . Guys I think we need to set 'em up for the new guys here so Ill buy just tell the waitress to send the tab to the guy under the table near the ladies room...that'll be me... Darkworksite4: When the job is to small for everyone else, Its just about right for me"

Ditto my welcome to Jason. I'm sure you've also heard the story about the blind men and the elephant. Here's my little piece of advice.....when the guys/gals here put a part in your hand to help you identify the beast......it just might be squishy and foul smelling. It's just their way of saying "hello & welcome".
Thanks for coming to help us out. We've all got much to learn from each other.

Welcome to the forum. I have personally found it to be a great place to get helpful and informative info. But, like others have said, you have to grow a thick hide. The very first time that I posted here I was ridiculed beyond belief. Later I found that the same member that dogged me was actually pretty knowledgable and I learned a great deal from them. Oh well, rock on.
My first post or two here got me dragged through the PC mire. That kept me lurking on the sidlines for a while before I learned to dance.
Framer - we get a Q every week from someone wanting free engineering advice about sistering, headers and such with incomplete info. Makes for a good mental excercise.Excellence is its own reward!
Welcome Jason,
Fasten your buckle and keep it cool because these guys / gals are telling you the truth about needing to grow a thick hide here, notice how I've included both. Anyway if I can help you in the area of handrail installation please let me know.

As part of our indoctrination ceremony, we need to do an inventory:
How many fingers do you have?
How many eyes do you have?
Can you stand up straight?
Do you have any other obvious scars?
We'll need this baseline information for future reference...
LOL
Hope you keep healthy. someday, you may find it your greatest asset.Excellence is its own reward!

Hello Jason: I am a Electrican and also do plumbing & hvac and if you ever call me a
sparky I will kick your butt !!! Welcome aboard & have fun...
Hey, Jason, I'm a framer in Idaho. Where are you located? Hopefully, you have convinced your boss to get one of those handy-dandy palm nailers to aid you in your job of nailing the hurricane ties and hold-downs. A person can learn a lot just by reading this forum and also end up laughing a lot, too. Welcome.
Jason,
I've been here longer than everyone who replied to you except Mongo. I don't think you need to worry about getting into a word war with any of these guys. This forum is nothing like it used to be, believe me. Plus, there's an "ignore" button that comes in real handy to avoid reading drivel from anyone you don't like.
Have fun learning. Where are you from?
MD
