We got the Frididaire model with 7 water temps, 10-15 different wash cycle variations. It was a superb decision on our part with a new youngin in the house (who I swear requires a whole wash cycle by himself every two days). New cost was $650, but oregun has a 25% state tax credit on them, which dropped the new cost to under $500. At a conservative $10/month utility savings, it will pay for itself in 4 years. We are also facing a potential large increase in our water costs ( because our idiot mayor wants to spend $60M to put covers on the resevoirs ) Savings are multifold, in that it uses much less water, much less detergent, and the 900 RPM final spin has reduced drying times by at least a third. Our electric usage for HW and the dryer was less this year than in January last year despite using those machine much more often (new dishwasher as well).
