High power CFL refector bulbs
I have some Panasonic capusle bulbs with an add on refector.
They are 28 watt, 1800 lumens.
Apparently Panasonic does not make these any more and after 7 years of night time operation they need replacing.
I can get reflector bulbs, but this are 1200 lumens and 28-34 and more watt spirals.
But these are external, but under cover so they are in direct rain.
Any one have any ideas.

Somewhat off topic but I found this review interesting.

The reader comments about bulb life are also interesting.
Back to your specific question what size bulb are you looking for R20 or larger?
I checked the link and the reader comments. I too have had mixed results with CFLs. None have ever come close to the claimed life but they do outlast incandesents. The shortest life span seems to be in base up appplications. (Old fashioned ceiling fixtures) The heat seems to be hard on the ballast built into the base.
The ones that I am replacing are 7 yo, aproax 12 hours a day and they are base up.But there are also out in the open so no heat buildup. But I have another place where I have some small ones in sconces. And the top is open so there is fee flow of air around them. Don't have a record, but they only seem to last a couple of years. The others that I have in cans lights seem to large a long time..

My experience with CFL's has been great. I have been using them for over 5 years now and I have not needed to change one bulb. Hope they keep making them smaller. My four inch line voltage can lights go through 2 bulbs a year.Wood is Good

The fixture is open. It it an outdoor yard light. Basically 2 boxes with open bottoms and a socket in the middel of the top.So any size reflector will work. Just want to point most of the light downward.
