Alright everyone, I’m having a debate with my wife on whether its more costly to maintain a home in the northeast or the south like florida, items like roofs, trim, deck repair, yard care, etc… I say its more costly to maintain a home in the south, she thinks new england, comments.

Roughly half my life in Michigan, half my life in Florida(so far). Many many more trips to the convience store for "fluid replacements" in Florida, therefor higher cost to maintain the yard or paint the sheds in Florida.
Seriously though, In my experience, sun, insects, rot, mildew, causes alot more headaches than 5 months of snow and 7 months of poor sledding. Part of this might be a change in quality of work/materials over the years. Not to be stereotypical, but there is a lot of just plain poor workmanship down here. Speed and cost has killed craftsmanship, or at least wounded it badly.
