I’m looking for a 3D home model kit. I saw one advertised in a magazine but can’t find it again. The one I saw allowed the builder to build a 3D replica of their home,,,it could be modified to any plans and allowed for experimenting with different floor plans. I want a 3D kit to experiment with for a remodel of my house. I have tried computer programs with little to no results. Any information about where I can order one of these kits would be appreciated.

My parents picked up a pretty good cardboard kit at a local book store. I've seen them at Borders Books.

nlhall,
It sounds like you want computer generated 3D viewing of your project.
I used Broderbund's 3D Home Acrhitect on my addition and it worked great. I even know a local builder who uses it to create "blueprints" for building permits. Plus it only cost about $30.00
One problem I ran into was it's inability to construct complicated multiplane roofs. (lots of dormers etc.)
If you have a simple roof you'll love it.

I was in a software store yesterday and saw a new product, that allows 3d Home design. It was a bundle of about 7 related products, inclusinf a stud frame designer. But the part that looked interesting was you could print out sections of the plan, past them onto foamcore, and assemble a 3D scale model Looked really cool.
However, my experience with similar products from other manufactures has not been postive. But they have a 90 day money back - so I'm toying with buying it.
I tracked donw their web site.

Only Punch! software has the patent pending Real Model® feature, giving you
the power to take your home design and create an actual scale model of your
plan. ALL Punch! programs automatically create wall and roof components,
complete with your selected colors and textures, from your home design to a
scale you determine. Simply print from your computer, then trim and glue to
foamboard. Punch! programs even generate the floor plan template that shows
you exactly where to place your walls for an accurate and easy-to-construct scale model! >>>>>
