Hi,
I’m renovating my house, and we are living in a rented apartment. The renovation works of some of the rooms are almost over. So I have a plan to shift my valuables to the house. The thing that worries me is security. When discussed with some of the friends, they suggested hiring a security guard. Is it useful to install a CCTV Camera than hiring a security guard? Share your suggestions.

This issue comes up a lot on my projects. If your market prices for security guards is anything similar to mine you will save a lot of $ by storing your valuables offsite in a storage unit vs paying someone to sit in a car outside your property. The only time we really consider having a security guard is on larger commercial projects, it rarely happens residentially. For the camera, we have those as well. They are a little bit of a deterrent, but it will not stop someone from stealing your stuff. Will only become useful when trying to catch the intruder. When used in conjunction with a a security system it is good, but again a storage unit off site is always cheaper (my experience). We use the cameras mainly to document the site, not so much to stop intruders. We’ve found removing as many valuable objects as possible off site and making sure insurance covers what is left to be the best method. Also, there’s a good chance your valuables will get quite dusty and dirty. If it’s a large renovation a deep clean after the work is a lot easier without items in the way.
J,
Jenrick replied with a link to a security service (spam). I deleted that reply and left the thread as informative.
There is a lot to consider when weighing up the two solutions. Whatever your decision, it’s vital that you avail of the services of a reputable company. This will ensure peace-of-mind regarding the quality of the services and systems involved in securing your Home. Some Home prefer to combine proactive video monitoring with on-site security guards. The two working together offer a powerful security solution.
Lock it up in the garage until its over maybe. just don't loose the key if its an unbreakable lock.
Even though it's an older post, home security is timeless, right? Regarding your concern, technology keeps evolving—CCTV cameras have seen significant advancements. They offer remote monitoring, AI features, and can be a solid standalone option. Yet, combining tech with human presence, like a security guard, can offer a more comprehensive security setup.
