I am planning to build a vault in my new house. I want it to be placed under the garage slab for fire protection. It will be 10″ reinforced concrete appox. 8’x12’x8′. I know how to build it stout enough but I would appreciate any opinions on construction, humidity control, waterproofing etc.

Before we can give out that sort of information we'll need your address and a list of your intended contents. Joe H
*Hello! I work for an architectural design firm in Virginia, where we just finished a concrete block, fireproof vault. Everything works fine, our client stores sensitive papers and paintings there, but we are now running into a humidity problem. We could run a vent to the exterior, as the vault is in the basement, or even vent to an adjacent crawlspace, but we do not want to violate our fire proof status. I understand that there are fireproof dampers, where can I find such a product for a one-time residential application? Any help would be greatly apreciated. I am also willing to share our experiences and specs for the vault as well.Robert
