Hi,
Several decades ago, I heard of someone adding bubble bath products such as “Mr. Bubble” to small batches of concrete to make it air-entrained. Does anyone know if this could achieve indeed the desired effect? Has anyone experimented with quantities to obtain this? Sought end goal is to air-entrain with small DIY mixer.
Although I admit I am unfamiliar with how air entrainment is obtained in a concrete plant, I would suspect that surface tension in the water has to be diminished in a similar way. I looked at data in the Portland Cement Association archives, and it seems that bubbles the size of fractional millimeters is what we are looking for. So, can’t this be achieved with simple variables such as dilution and mixing time?
Any other experiences, with use of admixtures (legitimate or improvised, to air entrain/placticize/etc) to alter concrete for small batches?
Thanks
