Have any of you guys ever used skilled contract labor to suppliment your regular crew on a project by project basis? I am not talking about laborers, I mean finish carpenters, plumbers, electricians? I had a guy contact me about a company that will send a skilled , say finish trimmer to my site with tools, and they bill me an hourly wage that includes all taxes and benefits. The job and be a week or six months. When the job is over the guy leaves and that ‘s it. unless I need him or them again. |

If they are anything like the "skilled" labor that my GC on the project I'm on now gets sent by the local labor pool, you'd be better of hiring someone....it'll cost you less in the long run
Ive got a friend who works for an electrical company. They use a service like this from time to time. When they get good ones, they eventually try to hire them. Just curious, what kind of rates are they asking for carpenters.
I have used Tradsource before. It is a little expensive, but you can expand or decrease your crew quickly and cleanly.
The carps I have gotten from them - some were half way decent, others were a waste of time.
When you get the rotten ones send them home before ½ a day and there is no charge.
