THIS IS MY FIRST TIME SO HELP ME GOD.
I’M REMODELING A MEXICAN RESTAURANT AND THE OWNER WANTS TO CREATE A OLD RUSTIC WALL LOOK ON THE WALLS WITHOUT REPLACING THE EXISTING TEXTURE THAT HAS BEEN PAINTED WITH SEMIGLOSS LATEX. ANY IDEA?

Have you thought about faux painting? Alot of faux finishes acheive this effect.
Trompe l'Oeil can also look nice if done in a way to enhance something old and Mexican that would be appropiate. However trompe l'Oeil can be expensive.

*I've had success using artists colors found at an art supply store mixed with a glazing medium from Home Depot or paint store which is then rubbed in with a damp rag. I mix about a six inch bead of color with a half pint of the glazing medium. Try burnt umber for antiquing. I did a 20 x 25 room in about 6 hours and it turned out great. They make oil base colors and glazes but I use water base and it works great. Good Luck.
*I remodeled an architects office about a year ago and they brought in some folks to jazz up the walls. They made the flat walls look like the stucco was falling off the original exterior brick of an old building, incorporating a couple of flat fluted wood columns the architects had dug up somewhere. They used common rollers and $1. a quart (or $3. a gallon) mistinted paint from Home Depot, along with some full price stuff they had to buy just to get certain colors they needed. During and after the rolling they sponged to soften and mix tints and then finished up the whole thing with airbrush outlining and accents. It looked like something even I could do. I also watched a guy mix artists colors and paint a mural in a bedroom. He would have been better off to do it with mistinted cheap paint and a roller. Some have the talent and some don't.
*Mix some paint into some joint compound. Trowel on ...and let it dry. Done! Jeff
*I would have to agree with the faux painting thing. I have seen it done with joint compound like Jeff said, but I've never done it personally!Call me ... We'll knock it out!
