how deep I need to cut 3.5″ x12″ x 14’PSL beam pocket.

I am remodeling a apartment suit on 3dr floor at 4story building. I remove load bearing wall in between kitchen and living room. opening length will be 13.5′.

One side will be 4×4 post and the other side need to be a pocket on exterior wall.

I do’nt fully open the wall, going to leave 1 foot on each side of wall. Then how deep I need to cut the pocket to support the 14′ beam?

      Exactly...isnt against the fire code to do that in some brick construction?  Seems like they dont want it around here because a beam in a pocket in a fire pulls the wall down is considered a hazard to firemen
