My Father-in-Law has an unfinished basement that has a grey fungus spreading over a dirt floor. There is also a fairly strong musty smell. It doesn’t have very good ventilation which is probably why it’s spreading. Is there a product out there that will KILL the fungus or at least keep it under control? I’ve already sprayed the floor with diluted bleach (9 parts water to 1 part bleach) but this had no effect. Any help into this will be much appreciated.

It would help to dry the basement out as much as possible. Internal drains and a sump would pull out water table moisture. As the soil drys, try covering it with lime dust - like what farmers use. That changes the pH of the soil to a point where the fungus shouldn't grow. But, you will have to cover that if you plan on going into the basement. About an inch of #1 or crushed stone with dust should cover the lime.
