Hi,
I need to stretch a small part of my living room carpet. I only need to budge it about 1/2″ and only on a part that’s 30″ wide (hallway). I thought it was too small a job to rent a stretcher so I was wondering if there’s an alternate way. I was thinking of making a knee carpet stretcher out of the carpet nail strips. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Those knee kicker small stretchers only rent for a coupla bucks.
That might work. I would take a piece of plywood about 6"X6" and cover the whole surface with the nail strip. Make sure you have the thing planted deep in the carpet before you kick it. If it raises up it could destroy your carpet.
Do you know someone that would lend you a kicker or stop by and kick it for a few bucks?

ep, that is my kicker, has lasted over 30 years (maybe 400 yards total), good pad to kick with on the end.
have used the same pady with scissored 2x4s for whole room stretcher.
Don't you have a problem hitting your knee against the edge of a 3/4" piece of plywood? :)
