This is from the house moving thread in the photo gallery. I’m just wondering how the foundation for a 3200 sq ft home can cost $280k?! A regular two story house foundation around here would run somewhere in the $25k neighborhood.

redevelopment ordinance that includes half the cost of a foundation that’s estimated at $280,000.

They may be including all the costs of site development, and repairing the house once it's lowered. The concrete work alone will not cost $280K. Once you start adding water and sewer connections, replumbing, rewiring, and reworking crawl space mechanical, landscaping, repairing all of the carpentry and brickwork that got damaged or demo'd in the move... 280 might not cover it.
Well, they've got the actual renovation at $2 million. The 'foundation' seems to be a separate item. They had demoed a house to in theory prepare the site for the new foundation. So I guess maybe they have to remove the old foundation, but still... $280k!

Think the insides of that thing is gutted?
Probably not a bit of Cu wire left in it, nor anything of value?
Classic political boodoggle, are the owners political contributors to hizzoner??
Was that the one stuck in the street by the catholic church?
My brother is working on a house with a $1.5 million foundation! The house will be $20million or so, but still....

I am wondering what kind of foundation you refer to for 25 G 3200 sq ft? Slab foundation? Solid pour or block and what thickness? How high? How many returns? What kind of rebar or reenforcement?
Thanks!
