How large a gap for a ridge vent?

For a ridge vent, how much space to you leave between the plywood & the ridge? 1/2″, 1″?

    supposed to be 1 1/2" on each side 3"total

    Due to recent budget cuts the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

    1.5" is typical  but check with the manuf. instructions on the ridge vent system you're using.
