I’m currently building our new home North of Atlanta and am wondering if there’s some kind of standard per-square-foot price for bricklaying? We are only doing two walls and brick accents on the garage for a total of about 1400 bricks. I have a bid from the contractor who did the foundation walls (good price there) but his price for the brickwork just seems very high, especially considering that I’m supplying the brick, mortar and other materials. Any thoughts?
PS: For comparison, the same question goes for Hardi Plank. No bids on that yet…

I would think you could find somebody to do it for $1-$1.5 per brick, labor only!
it's your money... and whatever you save might just let you upgrade a few fixtures.. for only 1400 brick... if it's a simple deal and you have the brick, mortar and sand on site and you are ready to brick... I'd stop at a few jobsites where they are lay'n brick and see if there is a crew that wants a weekend job (maybe 6 hours total for a couple good guys) they will prob be hispanic and want to be paid cash.. look for the guy who has the truck and the mortar mixer.... around here (memphis) I'd say $300 to $500 total...

I'm guess'n ur contractor wants $1500 or more... and he'd hire the same guys
$1.50 a Sq.ft. on the Hardi-plank.
Quoins, corbels ,soldiers or flat work?
Many variables..mortar tinting> and raking can vary too.
close to ground? or 60' up? Site access?
My method would be close to: cost of brick plus x 2 ..as a ball park. I.e> brick 50c, x 2 = 1.00 + .50+ 1.50$ per brick.
toatal BPark..@ 1400 brick+ 2100.00.$
