How to lay carpet temporarily for a trade show?
In a couple weeks my girlfriend is going to be setting up her booth to sell the pens she makes at a show. One of the rules is that all booths must be carpeted. Another is that they will charge (big time) for any cleanup of residue left on the floor after the show.
Would any of you know of a 2 sided tape that can be used that will pull off a floor after 4 days and not leave any of the glue behind? Would putting Gaffers tape down first with the 2 sided on top be the way to do it?
Thanks

When we did trade shows we used hot glue to hold down just about everything. We've held down 4x8 sheets of 3/4" plywood with flooring samples, and even an entire t&g haradwood floor. We have used it on some carpet squares. Most of the convention hall floors are very smooth concrete so the glue can be scraped off easily after the show. It may not come off of the carpet so easily though.

Some places have in house decorators (like http://www.Freemanco.com ) that would do all that for her.
The organizers have an "approved" company that will provide and lay down the carpet in the 6' x 8' booth, minimum 100 sq ft @ $1.75 for the cheap carpet, $3.00 + for good stuff, underlay extra, minimum 1 1/2 hrs @ $75 hr. They have similar for the electrical plus $75 for 3 days of the power. Naturally they have furniture and displays of all kinds. The costs keep going if you are willing to pay and have deep pockets. Great for the big outfits but less so for the small guy.
Thanks for the suggestions so far but unless I find a version of 2 sided Gaffers Tape I'll lay carpet tap on regular Gaffer tape and the carpet on top. Going to bring all our own stuff too. ;)
Bring a spray bottle of Goof Off and some scrapers and scrub brushes just in case. If you are the odd guy not using the services, you might get extra scrutiny.
