I’ve been asked to paint 20 doors and its trim in a plumbing contractor’s new building. I’ve done a fair amount of painting as parts of jobs (e.g. install a new drywall ceiling and crown mold) but don’t know how to price just painting doors. I’m assuming (I’ll see the place next week) that this is 20 identical hollow core pre-finished interior doors and they’ll want 2 coats of latex paint put on them. What advice can anyone give? TIA

The only advice that will be worthwhile is to figure out how long it will take to prep and paint each door, add time for protecting the surrounding surfaces if required, and multiply the total # of hours by your hourly rate. Simple enough, no?

It depends. Are these 6-panel doors or flat? Are they pre-primed? When you say you're painting the trim too, do you mean casing and jambs? Wood or steel? Same color as walls or is the trim a different color? Can you get paint on the hinges or do you need to remove them?
Anyway, assuming the following: pre-primed, flat doors, paint on hinges ok, precise cut line not critical - I could probably paint these doors in 1 day. So that's what I would charge, 1 day of labor plus 2 gallons of paint.
The biggest time impact would be if they were multi-panel doors because then they need to be mostly brushed as opposed to rollered. This will more than double the time.
