I pulled up the carpet but the rubber backing is glued to the concrete floor. Tried to scrape it off, but that will take about 6 hours. Any ideas on getting it off a bit more quickly? Thanks

Derek,
I work for a property management company with over 160+ "budget" units, so I have worked with lots of this glorious stuff. I use an ice chippers/scraper (the kind you use on your driveway, not your car windows) with a slight "chisel" bevel ground on it, the long handle saves the back. One floor installer I knew used the claws of his hammer, but then again, he charged by the hour.
Good Luck.
*Derek I've rented a power scraper for backing several times. It is definitely worth it. I've also heard that dry ice can be used but am skeptical about that route. One commercial job we did went way red when we ran into a particularly difficult floor. Good luck. Skip
*Thanks for both of your suggestions. I tried the scraper but it just seemed to bounce off the rubber. Didn't have time to try the electric scraper as the customer was in a hurry. We just ignored the rubber and nailed on top of it. Seems to be solid enough. thanks. Derek
