I have a home that has decent insulation as I am slowly renovating it. Despite all my improvements, in the winter time, my house is still cold (and I’ve added the correct sized ducts and returns). My thermostat sits on 75 degrees, and there is still a bit of a chill in the air.
While we do not have excessive amounts of static electricity, I am told that a humidifier on my Natural Gas furnace would be a significant improvement towards helping make the air feel warmer.
I am not an HVAC person per se. I hire pros to size ducts for me, tell me where to put them, and then do the work myself. Hence, my knowledge on air humification systems is nill.
I’ve heard of the drum type humidifiers, water atomizers, and water vapor systems. I currently have a drum type mounted on the furnace, but it was disconnected when I bought the house and was told it was broken. I am also told that the drum types are not all that great, either.
I would like a good humidification system, but not the most expensive type either. Can anyone make recommendations to me on what they feel are good humidifiers to attach to the furnace and the approx cost of such devices?
Many thanks,
Rich
