Hopefully I can borrow some expert wisdom here…
I have a cabin that was originally just going to be “my place” hunting cabin. Its 16 by 16, no running water iindoors…I do have water outdors at a hydrant…I have a privy currently.
My wife has convinced me that I should add on a bathroom with a shower and perhaps add a mini kitchen so I dont have to be so limited when I spend time there and so that she could join me on occasion.
I have pretty well figured how to do the addition with one major issue that I have realized I have to resolve.
The Cabin is in Missouri so we have freezing issues to contend with. I use a wood stove for my heat and have no desire to keep it heated when I am not there. So the plumbing will need to be made drainable/freezeproof. I will probably have a 20 gallon electric water heater.
The question is, how can I plumb this in a manner that is drainable enough that frozen pipes are not an issue?

If you pitch all you piping at 1/4 per ft you won't have any trouble. We drain the plumbing at my parents place every year and never have any trouble. Not a bad idea to blow some air through the lines while you are at it. Fill the traps in the drains with RV antifreeze and you should be all set.

You know, when a man hunts game, he needs to keep a clear mind and not be thinking of the previous nights adventures! Also, that scent and her scent will get on you and all your clothes and totally ruin your chance of seeing game!
Besides, a good ice chest is all the kitchen you need. Makes a good table too.
All you really need is a good clothes line outside to hang all your clothes on (including undies) for the next days hunt. Might also build a small fire upwind so they get a good smoke smell on them. (deer are used to the smell of smoke) And by all means, don't take a bath using soap!
A well and a bucket is all the running water you need.

I would agree for those times when hunting season is open...however, their are other times of the year when one is not out a hunting! And we should not forget ones rewards for a successful day harvesting game for the table....a nice Maple Table I built a couple years ago I would add...
I'm still trying to figure out how you happen to have a hunting cabin next to a water hydrant!
Yeah, adding all that stuff might be nice especially if you have a girl friend! :-)
Just slope all the pipes and have a drain valve buried outside. They make drain valves that open up whenever the water pressure is turned off. Called something like an automatic water pressure relief valve. Don't forget to drain the tank and bowl of the commode it there is one.
