I come from a long line of house painters. For years now we have been removing old paint by burning it off with propane torches. This is a great way to remove multiple layers of paint but as you can imagine, there are risks. Frankly I prefer this method but I need to move forward and find a better, safer, quicker way to remove old paint.
I have very limited knowledge and experience using chemical strippers. I have the impression that they’re time consuming and not worth the hassle. There are places to “dip” smaller items but I need to work on the job site with them.
What are the best ones to use and are they worth the effort? The project I am looking to do is a front door entryway built in the early 30’s. It is basically a large door jamb assembly – Colonial Features. If you have had experience with both a torch and chemicals, I would love your advice.
Thanks again … you all are great!
