I bought it and did it…..

RRooster | Posted in General Discussion on September 23, 2006 02:37am

I bought the gecko hardi siding gauges and completed my siding project by myself!!!  It was a piece of cake, came out great and I got another hardi job next week which I will also do by myself.  Didn’t even break one piece of siding.

I was torn between the solo sider and the gecko and went with the gecko because of testimonial from you guys/gals.  What a great tool.  Thanks.

Got a link? I was JUST about to order the solosider...been too rainy here to get moving and when it dries out, I need a hanger helper.

I gotta mull that over...75 bucks seems pretty steep.  I gotta think a way to get the shears that Malco make for a drill body, can't locate them yet either.

This siding job on my house is getting expensive..LOL

Amazon should have them. That's where I got mine.

Pretty sure I just saw those in my most recent ABC catalog

Lemme tell ya about ABC. Monday I was in the store and asked the counter geek about them, he took a catalouge and looked, and sais "no, we don't have them"  Then I asked if he could GET them, he just said "no..I don't think so"

            Ok, whatever.

Next day, Dale returned some shingles left over from a job, and snagged the sale flyer.  Seems they DO have the DeWalt corded shears on sale. And Malco hand shears with a free hat and gauge/hanger helper.

I have a blade for the saw, so I might just get the hand shears in addition., or just wing it with just the saw.

If it never stops raining I'll be until next yr. getting this siding up, noy something I want to set up for to work an hour or two on after work, I need a goodly stretch of time w/out interupptions, when I finally get in the mood.

Save the seventy five bucks and hire a helper that'll save you a ton of money. What the heck are you thinking? $75.00 bucks is a steal compared to having to put up with someone else.

Yup, we made the weather channel.

I pulle dthe van back up to the house , I move the cars when it blows big, due to that HUGE old tree out front, and unloaded some tools for working inside.  The whole lower end of my driveway was a foot deep. Thats a first.

Looks like the next wave is headed here shortly.

            Get crackin on that ark.

Look to be pretty simple, probably would cobble together a pair from scrap Al channel next time I need to do siding unless there is a $5 China copy at HF pretty soon??

Dont think would fork over $75 for 'em either.

    Question?

Customer has large supply of 8-1/4" hardi sitting unsued on his farm.  Has rental house he wants to reside, but to save money, wants to install it over existing siding.  Existing siding is sound.

    What do you think?
