Okay, here’s the deal. Old rowhouse, middle of group. Beautiful 3/8 strip hardwood, with border and Greek key inlays. Client wanted a dryer vent installed, and no way to get it out of the basement without a ridiculously long run. Since they’re going to be putting radiator covers in, I suggested that we run the duct through the floor and out the brick wall, between the radiator and the corner.
I predrilled a tiny hole to check for joist/pipe interference, and soon discovered that the only place to run it was right in the middle of the key pattern. So I did it.
Suggestions for penance?

They say...............confession is good for the soul.
Did your tears keep the drill lubricated as you plowed through?
No tears until later. I just gritted my teeth and did what needed to be done. Maybe I'll try to bid the radiator covers just to make sure my sin is well hidden.
ok, make em beautiful and all is forgiven.
Connecticut just said you're no longer welcome !
...keep smiling...makes 'em wonder what you're up to !!
couldn't you have just handed her a clothesline ?

She stood foursquare and unflinching in her plan to pay someone to add that vent. It's a dirty job, and somebody had to do it..........

what part of Ct are you lookin at?
Probably the Bridgeport area, Trumbull, Ansonia, anyplace where I don't have to spend a million bucks on a 1000 sq ft rancher. I'm wondering about the costs of land up there, Kinda gettin' a hankering to build me another house.
Got a place to stay in Trumbull until I can find permanent digs.
Tom,
I'm in New Haven with family in Newtown. If you need any help geting settled etc, drop me a line.

Trumbull is very expensive. take a look at Seymour/ Derby area. they're far enough away from Bridgeport and close enough to the rural areas
I've seen the Trumbull prices, and I agree. I do have a place to stay (at least briefly) there while I get myself set up. Really looking for a lot to build on, hopefully kinda rural, I feel like I'm living in a fishbowl where I am now. No garage, street parking, too many HOA issues. It was okay when I was a super, but now that I'm back in the trade it just doesn't fit. Good news is the house is worth about double what I paid for it 5 years ago. So at least I should have some cash to put down when I decide to move.
But I have a number of jobs waiting for me to complete here before I can begin looking in earnest.
Get a bulldozer and flatten that old rowhouse...make room for some Mc Mansions!

That would be funny if I didn't know you're serious.
