   *
   when the site was down recently I got a serious "jones". I surfed. I emailed the few guys I had addresses for. I even resorted to starting a Ford vrs Chevy argument at ahem, another site, trying to get a few laughs. All to no avail. This is the spot, and the folks who post here are the reason. (ok, even the Canadians) - yb

   *I occasionally look at the JLC site, but "only for the articles"! After reading this board, I have no time to pursue surfing. I just did real life stuff when the site was down.The software is great, but I agree with yb about the people.Rich Beckman

   Wood Magazine has a nice site. But, I must agree about the software here. . . it is one of the finest around.

   *I occasionally like to go over to to read the plumbers whining about how unappreciated they are and how DIYers are ripping them off by buying fixtures by mail order or from HD. Their usual answer to problems posed to them is, "Call a plumber." It's a change of pace now and then, plus I like to post toll free numbers for ordering faucets just to get them stirred up.

   *not me, I do it to feed my family. I doubt any tv personality spends much time creating things with hands and tools. That's what I do. If I can leave something behind of merrit in the process all the better. But if I am providing a needed service to folks and feeding my family, that is success. - yb

   *I like the folks over there more than Barry does though I worry what kind of people can hang out all those hours talking about -plumbing-. There have been so many advances in plumbing materials -- and retailing -- that the main reason to hire a plumber now is to get someone else to do the dirty work.i used to drop by http://theoak.com/cgi-bin/board/wood.pl from time to time.
