My icemaker dosent work. Its getting water at the bottom of the fridge and the mechanicals are cycling. I believe the unit below is not sending water to the freezer. If anyone has any info to share, I’d appreciate it, ice tea season is here!
thanks, mike

Once upon a time the tube that connects into the back of the freezer came loose--whenever the water system in this city went on the fritz and then restarted, the surge would knock the tube a bit looser. So water was still coming in, but not at the right place. Ended up with puddles on the floor. Just one thing to look for.
You did not indicate the brand, model, or type of unit that you have and there is number of different styles.
One common problem is that the supply lines gets frozen.
And a bad soleniod valve. Also check at the solienod there is often a screen and it might be clogged.
There are several web sites that have diagnotic check list based on the brand and model.
Do a google on - appliance repair clinic - and - appliacne repair help - and similar phrases.
Thanks bill,I,ll do that. It must be the valve that sends the water up to the freezer
cause every thing else appears to be working. I guess thats pretty simple to replace?

Most refrigerators will automatically be OK if you just shut it off for a day and just turn it back on.
The icemaker will fix itself?

Sometimes a piece of ice will jam or plug something in the refrigeerator
Pull the cover off and look to see if the large plastic gear has stripped a couple of teeth off. I just repaired one where that had happened. My local appliance store gave me an old salvaged unit which had the same gear. You can also buy them on line by searching "appliance repair".
