anyone have experience with icynene insulation? i have a rather large house going in nw ct and that is what is spec’d. I’ve done my share of timber frame and stress skin panel work, but have not yet dealt with Icynene spray insulation.
Pls tell me of any/all experiences…..good & bad.
Thanks

We use Anderson Insulation out of southern MA, they will go all over New England so they may be in your area of CT. We have always had great service from them and the two reps we go through Tony and Scott are very knowledgeable and won't jerk your chain. AND they will come back no questions asked if you find a spot they missed etc.
The biggest complaints we've had from homeowners is the noise of the diesel truck motor that powers the compressors that spray the stuff and the off-gassing smells during and after the work is being done. It is (allegedly) a non-toxic water based product that has no permanent harm on anyone. But it does really smell bad until you get the blue board up.

I'm just sayin'
It's a GD mess, overspray everywhere. Make sure they cover EVERYTHING you don't want overspray on including your tools and ladders. There is no solvent that cuts Icynene according to their tech reps, and I've found none either. But I still use the stuff when I can.
