Hi all. Sorry to introduce a topic that looks a little controversial, but I have tried to read through most of the posts and I couldn’t find the answer I was looking for. I am deciding on whether or not to use Icynene or Corbond on a rehab project. My first question is do either of these foams have health or safety issues associated with them. My second question is which one is more expensive (assuming the walls are exposed as I understand Icynene has a pour-in product). Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hi Williie: Icynene is an open cell foam, Corabond is a closed cell foam. As such icy gets you an R value of abought 3.5 per inch, corabond is abought 6.5 per inch. Because of this corabond is more $ per sq ft sprayed. However if you compare R per $ they are pretty close. In other words if you want to achieve a certin R value, they will be close in cost, there will just be more of the icy.
So if you have a limited amount of room to stuff insul in then corabond is the way to go. Its also almost a complete vapor barior. Icy will pass moisture thru it, but slowly.
Dont think there is any health issues but not positive.
